Adventure

As a kid I would read and reread adventure stories. When I was twelve, I was given one I had never read before. It was by my favourite author and I started it as soon as I got home. But the story, not that different to those in the rest of the series, seemed far-fetched. The characters I had so liked in the previous books were shallow and unconvincing. Something had changed. I put the book down and did not finish it.
