Birthstone

The dragon shows me the green emerald given to him at birth. He says the emerald may see the fire in a dragon even if the dragon cannot yet make fire. And the emerald is the eye that the sun looks through to see all the green things that are his favorites – grass and trees and dragons. When he stands with the emerald between the setting sun and the rising moon, in the end there will be fire.

running toward the ocean
to see the green flash
