The Sign
Poised, her metals-adorned mouth and nose, scenting something in the warm winds, more than viscid ozonic air, in the winding days of a long glasshouse summer – "...part cause, more effect..." another sign reads somewhere – she stands on the tree cobblestone apron, in laced black boots and black lace tipless gloves, hair in hues of green, purple and blue. Bristol board stencilled in rainbow letters, emboldened punctuation marks and crisp monochrome butterflies, hers it must be, the sign, leaning on the honey locust, bark bronzed as the sleeves on her firelight skin.
cracking
between corners, twilight
on blue tarps
Down her cleavage, Pooh hangs by a loop.
