while he eats breakfast the guards take his cash, while he works they take his radio cord, while he talks they write him up for punishment, while he waits for morning they watch, and the others, the lawyers, doctors, politicians, financiers, CEOs, while he sleeps they steal his crackers, while he showers they steal his soap, while he signs his release they steal his jacket and radio, while he packs his underwear in a box, they steal the box, while he waves to his wife arriving below the compound, they steal his place in line, while he walks in circles they steal his shoes, while he stands at night looking into the darkness of his memories they chase demons down the corridor of cubicles
