On Reading Lawrence
In retreat from the Sonoran heat I enter a walled-in sanctuary
and sit beneath the canopy of a gnarled-limbed elder tree.
The leaves of wildflowers with their orange
and yellow blossoms stir a bit as I read
of Lawrence's Sicilian serpent.
