Roses and peonies fill Riverside Park as it meanders along the Petitcodiac. Great blue herons line up on the muddy banks. Young goldfinches dart in and out of the willows. A circle of stones around a tall Celtic cross: a memorial to those who came here fleeing the Great Hunger. I read the lists carved into glittering granite.
