Burden of the Dream

All day long you carry the burden of the dream. Even after a long stretch of unrelated activities, it comes back chiding you, reminding you of the ways you have cheated it, ignored it, forgotten to pay for it. It returns to you and surrounds you like a silvery spider's web spread across the path. Without seeing it, you walk right through it, then you feel the sticky threads knot and wind around and you do not want to imagine where the soft weight of the spider now lies–in your hair, on your back, closer to your heart?
