A New Day

She wakes in the morning and cries. It hurts so. The struggle downstairs, coffee to brew, pills to take. This is a good day. The alarm and not pain got her up. Soon caffeine, movement, medication begin to take effect. Going upstairs isn't easy, but not so bad. The daily toilet begins. Getting into the tub a chore. Radio unheard while she blow-dries her hair. Make-up and then dress. Help may be needed with shoes and stockings. A politician in the news roundly cursed. Treats for the cats before leaving for work.
