Eva's Eden

An entire mound of fruit reclines upon its platter, forgotten as last year's holiday love. Peaches blush their promises, grapes loll seductively over the rim, cherries smoulder shamelessly.

But in vain. All remain unnoticed, untouched save the apples that she consumes voraciously, one after the other with huge bites as she turns the pages of the books surrounding her.

Adam pouts that she will not share, and the serpent trickles back to its lair, peeved that its grand scheme could have run so awry.
