Plein Air

all to myself

Stamped colors blend into my paint brush. I twist and joust the hairs onto the canvas. As the colors form, I barely see the zigzagging flights of honeybees.

What will I highlight about this moving garden, standing at attention before me? Do the honeybees know what’s happening inside themselves, each of their single colors, each of their gathered sweetnesses? Do they know I am watching each draft of them saying out loud: I am here, I am the brightest of them all?!
