Tazeen Fatma
Did I live my time well?
Much before the home is dismantled and rolled into bubble wrap and cardboard boxes, I sense the separation in the air.
A flock of pigeons gatecrash my territory as they take their usual flight. The bazaars are flooded with things I could’ve bought, but never did. The saffron-infused air settles heavily on the streets. I hoard everything the city stands for—bangles, pearls, biryani, and more.
“Relocating to a different city, ma’am?” the lady at the store enquires.
“I am. What is its shelf life?” I fiddle with the packet of panjiri, wondering how many I should buy.

Dear Tazeen,
This is a wonderful haibun. I am especially taken by the amazing haiku part.
Thanks!
