only to come out
deranged, slightly
out of breath,
spinning a top in the centre
of a metaphor,
cracking it open
like pomegranate seeds.

Shloka Shankar is an editor and visual artist from Bangalore, India. A Best of the Net nominee, she is a widely published haiku poet who has authored two haiku collections, The Field of Why and within our somehows, and co-authored the haiga anthology living in the pause.
