Peter Newton to Serve as Co-editor of cho

Peter Newton, a member of the contemporary haibun online team since December 2024, has agreed to serve as co-editor with Rich Youmans, who’s overseen the publication since 2020. Together they will direct cho‘s ongoing development and production.

Peter, who also is co-editor of the online literary journal tinywords, is well-known for his award-winning haiku and haibun. His books include Welcome to the Joy Ride (First Place in the 2014 Haiku Society of America Merit Book Awards for the Best Book of Haibun), The Searchable World (First Place in the 2018 Merit Book Awards), Part-Time Gods (winner of the 2022 Snapshot Press eChapbook Award for haibun), and Glide Path, which won Second Place in the 2023 Merit Book Awards. His newest book of haibun and haiku, A Room Inside the Rain, was recently published by Red Moon Press.

A graduate of Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English (M.A.), he still can be found on that campus during the summer as a staff member of both the Bread Loaf School of English and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. He lives in Rutland, Vermont.
