Peter Newton to Serve as Co-editor of cho

Peter Newton, who joined the cho team in December 2024, has agreed to serve as co-editor with Rich Youmans, who has overseen the publication since 2020. Together they will direct the publication’s ongoing development and production.

Peter, who also is co-editor of the online literary journal tinywords, is well-known for his award-winning haiku and haibun. His books include Welcome to the Joy Ride (First Place in the 2014 Haiku Society of America Merit Book Awards for the Best Book of Haibun), The Searchable World (First Place in the 2018 Merit Book Awards), Part-Time Gods (winner of the 2022 Snapshot Press eChapbook Award for haibun), and Glide Path, which won Second Place in the 2023 Merit Book Awards. A graduate of Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English (M.A.), he still can be found on that campus has during the summer as a staff member of the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. He lives in Rutland, Vermont.
