A Memorial Tribute to Bruce Ross
No Matter, No Mind
Climbing up the almost straight incline of Stony Squaw Mountain in the Canadian Rockies in the ascent through dense forest. Finally the rock outcrop that marks the summit. Catching my breath, my body quiets down and then my mind. A single bird calls softly from the few pine trees beside the overlook. Before me is a panorama of the endless chain of ridges of the Canadian Rockies, the stark gray stone shining in cold early spring air. Crevices embedded with brilliant white snow striate the mountains. The purity of form here becomes an abstraction of purity in the mind. I am lost in deepest silence.
