in the hush of still water

A miracle rests on a worn, wooden post. The kingfisher sits calmly, its jewel-bright blues and warm chestnut tones glowing against the muted greens of the billabong. There is no hurry here, only patience and balance.

The bird, the water, the dappled light. Time seems to wait for me to pause as dragonflies skim the opalescent pool.

a swoop
of blue and green
a moment
fills the morning...
sacred hunter of the bush
