A.A. Marcoff
the act of creation
DRINKING A CUP OF GREEN TEA I STOP THE WAR: I flower like the sun: I am nothing more than blossoming consciousness, dawn-light carried on the wings of a swan: I have walked free from the Underworld and returned from darkness onto the land: I did not look back: like a sunflower I turn slowly into a star, and all I can say now is that I AM: my poetry then moves from my heart to yours and holds crows that shadow the earth, great trees that green the valley, kingfishers poised on a blue silence, grasshoppers on blades of grass, butterflies of the soul, and temples and bells and moonlight and snow: I step over snails that carry dreams in their shells: in the spirit of old gospels I am a lily in the field grown from the parabolic prism of a moment:
I wake
I dream
I wake
& the world begins
over & over again
