Sunday Cadence

this is a morning of slow touches

in a tangle of sheets and limbs
he presses close, belly to back

she takes his hand and kisses each finger
the calluses she knows so well

and turns, a small movement
that means everything

green leaves sing their hymns,
bright sun stuns the grass to praise

as each breath gathers into prayer
a moan that’s almost

amen

                          angelus
                two shadows merge
                        into wings
