Busted

The doors to the Jazz Workshop were cracked open to clear the choking air. Along with clouds of cigarette smoke the cool wailing riffs of Gerry Mulligan’s baritone sax also drifted out, saturating the foggy San Francisco night. The hip cats and chicks stood outside in a circle smoking weed and digging the music. Seeing a familiar ”narc“ approaching, most people quickly scattered but one unfortunate hipster got trapped. Caught holding one joint cost him an eight-month residency in San Quentin Prison. Today a trendy shop near the same location sells marijuana legally to the upscale folks of Silicon Valley.
