Magic

We hear cicadas in the trees of Provence as wavy lines of lavender stretch to the horizon. A tandem bike ride takes us off the beaten path to brilliant sunflower fields as wide as the sky. Resting in the shade near a flowing stream, with birds singing overhead, I keep the beauty in my mind’s eye.

And then … the gift of walking through Monet’s garden of flowers knowing its sweetness will visit my dreams and wrap me in comfort for many nights to come.

On the Sorgue River, beneath a canopy of majestic thousand-year-old oaks, we float by village walls as church bells toll.

wanting
your body against mine
that evening
in the fields of summer
under a Van Gogh sky
