Lorraine Padden

Lorraine A Padden is a Touchstone Award–winning poet and former professional dancer whose work has garnered national recognition, including an appointment to the National Endowment for the Arts. Her haiku and related short forms regularly appear in notable journals and anthologies.

Lorraine’s poetry has been honored by Tricycle Magazine, The Haiku Society of America, The Tokutomi International Haiku Competition, The British Haiku Society, and The New Zealand Poetry Society, among others. She is featured in A New Resonance 13, the renowned showcase of emerging voices in English-language haiku.

Upwelling, her critically acclaimed debut collection, was named a short-list finalist for The Haiku Foundation’s Touchstone Distinguished Book Award in 2022. That same year, one of Lorraine’s senryu received the Touchstone Award for Individual Poems.

An active member of Zen Peacemakers International, Lorraine was a featured presenter at Upaya Zen Center’s popular Way of Haiku conference in March, 2023.
