Genes

Recently, I found out through DNA matching and a story my aunt once told me that my grandmother’s great great great grandmother was Betty Brown, Sally Heming’s sister. I read somewhere that in spite of being a slave, Betty was a no-nonsense woman at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello Plantation. That’s a trait my grandmother seems to have inherited because it was said that when she babysat and instructed the children to sit, even my grandfather obeyed.
