Questions to My Twin About Eclipse Time
Did you think nothing of arriving full of giggles half an hour late for my
last workshop?
When you told me with a few weeks to go that you wanted to come with me to the total eclipse, had I been planning for years to drive the five hundred
miles solo?
Did you arrive at the car rental place forty minutes after the time we'd
agreed to meet?
Were you a quarter-hour late for breakfast on the first morning?
Did you prefer to pick places to eat after we'd passed their exits so that
we doubled back for half of our meals on the road?
Were you offended by my nightmare that your presence would make me miss the hundred seconds of eclipse totality?

gliding all summer toward
its rendezvous with the sun
