Monsoon

Finally, the rain. Fat, heavy rain coming straight down and spattering off everything.

This is what we've been waiting for.

It is not the windblown sideways rain that comes and goes. It is solid and substantial. It is adobe eroding, flash flooding, dust-to-mud rain. It is here to seep into the consciousness like it seeps into the desert, making another year possible.
