Passing Time

We stop at a riverside pub and, by chance, meet old friends we have not seen for years. Sitting, watching the water pass, we chat about children, health and retirement plans. Their children are more successful than ours, their health is better and their investments will yield much more. I watch a family of swans glide by as it dawns on me why it is so long since we last saw each other.
