I wasted time, and now doth time waste me

~ William Shakespeare

He never

watched the sunrise,
smelled the flowers, or
explored the world.

He never

smiled,
talked, or
loved anyone.

He was

unmarried,
friendless,
and a recluse.

He traveled from cradle to grave,

without leaving a trace.

I exited the world,

without ever existing.
a nameless lake
vanishes presently in parched
desert soil
footprints disappear
on a wet sandy beach
