Kala Ramesh
. . .
tea ceremony before an open window
shoshin
lotus
pond
a cuckoo's song fills
gone
are
the days
her empty bowl
I
wanted
more
moon after moon the river keeps giving

Dear Kala,
Like Virginia Woolf’s waves, your lines swell and simmer, contract, expand into one continuous wave, and are something else entirely their own, not hers. Yet, how like a book for the space and duration, the breath of those five elements it gives, this unique haibun. Thank you.
With love,
Donna
