All afternoon, rain pounds the tiled roof like an argument no one wins. From the kitchen come the soft clatter of steel plates and the smell of lentils. Outside, a dog curls beneath a bench, waiting for the sky to finish speaking.
Inside, voices rise and fall, rehearsing the same old worries.
