Miriam Sagan
San Patricio, New Mexico
Peter Hurd ranch, where the painter worked and lived with his family. Dry ranching country, down by the border.
The quality of utter but unthreatening loneliness in his paintings.
Dusk or moonrise. Night of snow. A window lit in an old adobe. A small figure; another on horseback. Dwarfed but undaunted.
Today, I rather envy myself—if this is even possible. Basically, I am having a delightful time. I do know it is limited, but I don’t know exactly how.
