Rondo

Kodiak Island, 1953. Salmon fish are jumping upstream and Dads are ready with fishing poles. Moms are ready with ice chests for the always plentiful catch. Our Mom cleans the fish and places the overload into the freezer on the porch. Summer meals of salmon tax her imagination, but she ends up with clever recipes: grilled or baked salmon steaks, salmon salad sandwiches, croquettes and patties, salmon casserole, fish chowder, salmon pate with crackers. Smoked salmon, too, on bagels with red onions and capers.

campfire tunes
the kids sing
merrily, merrily ...
