is what we called him. Bald, sun-browned, wearing only a loincloth and sandals, this Ghandi-like figure strode the highways and byways of our rural county with just a satchel slung over his bare shoulder and a walking stick in hand. On one occasion he even cut across our property.

Christopher Patchel’s haikai poetry has appeared in leading journals, contests, and anthologies over the past twenty years. His collection, Turn Turn, was a Touchstone Distinguished Book Awards finalist. He served as frogpond cover artist from 2012 to 2018, and frogpond editor from 2016 to 2018.
