Traveling outback Australia. Bitumen spills on and on in an unravelling thread of black.

Landscape, flat, clothed in crackling grass no longer holds my attention. We cross a dry creek bed honeycombed with gaping cracks.

Peppery words sting, leaving large red welts. I wish I were somewhere other than here.
