Story Time

Riding down the highway back to college in a slow-moving bus. I've been reading Howard's End, my assigned novel, for an hour, but set it down in the seat to listen to conversations around me -- someone reminiscing about his Arkansas childhood as we drive. The county highway curves and twists through miles of pastures and pleasant farmland. My mind idles off into speculation about the lives of people who live here.
