Genie Nakano

Cicada Cries

We were best in the summer
Sprawled on wind-blown white cotton sheets
and all the windows in the house
open to an August breeze.

You said I made too much noise.
You were kind of quiet.
But oh good god–
The way you moved and
the exquisite weight of you

(Inhale, exhale)
It's been a long time, but I still love you.
I just didn't want to share you

beads of sweat
dripping down an iced tea glass
how i long for you
