Twenty Eleven

new year's eve

all that I could have left

unsaid . . .

I'm awake since I woke up to send emails to everybody at the stroke of 12 midnight. Why is sleep eluding me? I try – try hard to tuck in my thoughts. – in vain! I think of all the different things that people would be doing – maybe partying, dancing, sleeping, snoring, glued to the TV but surely there must be a person who would seriously be thinking of a new resolution for the coming year? The joy of breaking a vow, the guilt pangs that would follow ... I smile welcoming the New Year!

slipping in
beneath the door —
first sunlight
