Floes of Midsummer

lavender mist
beyond the horizon
wave after wave

Thirty miles to the coast through the north downs all the way there beyond south downs, wooded valleys between all liquid with stained glass light.

kingfisher vanished
around the river's curve
a bright tone echoes

And the sea gleams ultramarine in parallel with the pebbled ridge; tilt of the earth auspicious for night time streaks of blue

Chopin Nocturnes –
drifts of pellucid cloud
at the edge of space
