Hortensia Anderson

Fleurissimo

In celebration of the vernal nuptials to American actress Grace Kelly, Prince Rainier of Monaco commissioned the creation of a parfum.

The alchemists at the House of Creed (for surely the transmutation of existence into essence surpasses mere parfumerie) were to capture a woman's life in a droplet.

Upon completion, the elixir, a seemingly simple bouquet of four flowers, had the complexity of an ethereal other, paradoxically herself – her personal fragrance until death.

I spray my pillow and a fairy tale garden blooms with Bulgarian roses, violets, tuberoses, Florentine irises, but the lovely sillage carries me into troubled dreams.

as the car
misses the curved road...
tumbling flowers
