Passing by

The house no longer looks the same. Federation cream, green and red have replaced the flaking grey. A new fence and a rehung gate. No cat peers out from the front window through yellowing lace, and the hollyhocks and lavender are gone. The sudden, staccato voices of children rise from the backyard.
