Someone's Daughter

A panhandler holds the door open for shoppers. Hopes for money, asks for matches. Empty-handed and bone cold, she covers her overturned shopping cart with sheets and blankets. A policeman gives her a cigarette, lights her candle. Throughout the evening, she refuses offers for shelter, reluctant to leave her belongings behind.
