Winter Sleet

Winter sleet covers my parked car; exhaust greets fog in the empty lot.

"I'm withdrawing from school," she says.

"What? What about us?" I shout.

She places her hands over her stomach. "I..." her eyes sink.

Radio static fills my head, the door slams, tears meet ice.
