Night and Day

Sometimes the idea occurs to me that the sun and the stars are one, a vast contraction and expansion occurring over our heads infinitely and dazzlingly. I love the day, I love the night, but even more I love the one's passing into the other: night, the sun's sundering into stars; day, the compression back into sun. A lovely shatter, a lovely collapse. It's a great regret of mine, that sleep always dawns on me whenever I'm not there see it.
