What I Don't Want to Hear

I hear birds on my husband’s iPhone in the next room; the click of knives, forks and spoons when I load the dishwasher; the crinkle of a plastic bag; the swish of my polyester jacket. Even a rock under the car sounds like a drive-by shooting.
